Monty Don supports Open Gardens

I know of no better way of getting inspiration than by visiting other gardens.

There is always something to learn and even if I do not like every part of the garden, I always return to my own with renewed enthusiasm and fresh ideas.

Monty Don

This is because gardens are living breathing spaces that are completely bound up with the lives of those that created them.

The British Red Cross Open Gardens programme has hundreds of such gardens right across the country. These include every type of garden, from rolling parkland and cottage gardens to inner city back yards. All offer enjoyment, inspiration and tips that enlighten even the most knowledgeable and experienced gardener.

The programme would be worth supporting if it were only for these good horticultural reasons. But it does much more than that. The money raised from each open day contributes to the invaluable work that the Red Cross carries out across the world.

British Red Cross Open Gardens is dependent upon the dedication of all the garden owners that take part and on your enthusiasm in visiting as many as possible. If you would like to help, either as a volunteer or by opening your own garden, please contact the Red Cross for more information.

Whether as host, volunteer or visitor, we can all contribute to the invaluable work of the Red Cross.
